Sports Injury Management

Sports Injury Management involves the process of preventing, evaluating, treating and rehabilitating injuries by performing surgical procedures to treat injuries sustained during sports or physical activities.

The type of sports injury surgery required depends on the nature and severity of the injury.

ASIC, being Jaipur's only dedicated sport injury treatment centre, offers surgical procedures that are performed by highly experienced orthopaedic surgeons or sports medicine specialists.

Our goal is to help individuals recover from injuries, restore optimal function, alleviate pain, reduce the risk of future injuries and facilitate the athlete's return to sports or physical activities with the best possible outcomes.

Rehabilitation and physical therapy often play a crucial role in the post-surgery recovery process.

Types of Surgeries

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Reconstruction

A torn ACL is a common sports injury, especially in sports that involve pivoting or sudden changes in direction. ACL reconstruction involves replacing the torn ligament with a graft (often from the patient's own tissue or a donor) to stabilise the knee joint.

Meniscus Repair or Meniscectomy

The meniscus is a cartilage in the knee that can be torn due to twisting or direct impact. Surgery may involve repairing the torn meniscus or removing the damaged part (meniscectomy) to alleviate pain and improve joint function.

Rotator Cuff Repair

Injuries to the rotator cuff muscles and tendons in the shoulder are common in sports that involve overhead motions (e.g., baseball, tennis). Surgery is often required to reattach or repair the torn tendon to restore shoulder function.

Fracture Repair

Fractures, whether simple or compound, may require surgical intervention, including the placement of pins, screws, plates, or rods to stabilise the bone and promote proper healing.

Labral Repair

Tendon Repair

Labral tears in the hip or shoulder can cause pain and instability. Surgery may be needed to repair the labrum and restore joint stability.

Injuries to tendons, such as the Achilles tendon or the patellar tendon, may require surgery to reattach or repair the damaged tendon.

Cartilage Restoration Procedures

Techniques like microfracture, autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI), or osteochondral autograft transfer (OATS) are used to treat cartilage defects and promote healing in weight-bearing joints like the knee.

Ankle Ligament
Repair

Dislocation Reduction

Injuries to ankle ligaments, including the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL), may necessitate surgical reconstruction to stabilise the joint.

Dislocated joints (e.g., shoulder or patella) may require surgery to reduce the joint and repair damaged ligaments or structures.
